Porth Nanven House – Guest Comments

Recently renovated to a high standard Porth Nanven House is a stunning property located at the end of a rural lane in the beautiful and magical Cot Valley, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cot Valley is located in the far west of Cornwall between Cape Cornwall and Lands End, the valley stretches down to the sea, nearby is St Just with a selection of useful independent shops and pubs. An ideal property for families, friends, children and pets.

We spotted dolphins and porpoises almost every day!

Phay was a joy to deal with answering all our queries promptly, providing spot on directions to the house and treating us to lovely flowers, wine, chocolates and dog biscuits upon arrival.
We have stayed in many holiday lets over the years and despite doing thorough homework we have often been disappointed by misleading descriptions and clever photography, however Porth Naven House exceeded our expectations!
The location of the house is sublime, I couldn’t stop staring out of the windows towards the sea!
We loved the “wild” garden which must be beautiful in spring time. The valley and surrounding area is great for bird watching and we spotted dolphins and porpoises almost every day.
The house is stylishly decorated and the bed linen and towels are luxurious.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need with plenty of pots and pans and crockery.
The house has footpaths either side of it so may be too busy for some in summer months but that’s Cornwall!
St Just is a lovely little town where you will find everything you need for your stay.
We have never revisited a holiday home before as we like to explore as much of this beautiful country of ours as we can but I am not sure I can resist the lure of Cot valley and Porth Nanven House.

Glorious cliff walks!

We had a fantastic holiday at Porth Nanven house, the views from the garden are absolutely stunning, taking them in with our morning coffee and evening dinners with the backdrop of the sea and green hills. The walks from the house to the beach are marvellous, plus the addition of a taste of history with the historic mining sites and glorious cliff walks and amazing views from the top.
We house has been tastefully decorated, three lovely bedrooms and a great sitting room, we enjoyed our family breakfast each morning looking out to the views from the sun room. There were a number of days where we just left the car to enjoy the house and garden and local walks.

Brilliant house in a unique location!

Porth Nanven really is a special place – we’ve been there twice as a family and are planning a return in 2018!

Reached via what feels like a secret roadway. The house feels special from the moment you arrive. Our boys love the tiered garden – great for jumping, running and generally being outside. And, if you stay outside the beach is only 5 minutes walk away, with crashing waves and smooth, sea formed boulders. If you’re adventurous, you can walk one way to Cape Cornwall, or the other all the way to Sennen Cove and beyond along the cliffs.

Inside, the house is stylish and spacious and the kitchen incredibly well equipped. The range keeps the kitchen side of the house warm and the log burning stove looks after the rest.

Enjoy!

We look forward to coming back!

We had a fantastic stay with our boys at Porth Nanven House. The setting was spectacularly idyllic – you really feel like you’ve escaped all the mayhem of city life! We frequently took walks down towards the local beach (although be warned those with children that access to the shore itself is rather treacherous and not suitable for babies). It is a very atmospheric with a scenic route to it. The house is within easy reach of some of the most beautiful beaches I have seen (Sennen and Porthcurno to name but two). The cultural delights of St Ives are but a short journey away (which also has some stunning sandy beaches too).

The house itself is a real gem. Very well kitted out – for all age groups – and stylishly decorated too with beautiful antique detailing and crisp white bed linen in each bedroom. The fact that there are also three lovely bathrooms is a real added bonus. Everything is geared to a very comfortable and luxurious stay. We look forward to coming back!

Fabulous house, great location!

We had a great week at Porth Nanven House. It suited our party of 3 adults perfectly. The house has 3 good-sized bedrooms and plenty of space to spread ourselves. The garden is the icing on the cake with views of the valley and the cove below to die for. Access to the coastal path is from the door and it is a short walk (uphill) to shops at St Just and so we did not need to use the car except for longer sight-seeing trips. The walk to Sennen Cove was lovely and the bus back to St Just was great.
Overall a fantastic place to stay.

Stunning, stunning, stunning!

Our first holiday as a family and we could not have chosen a better house or location.
After an exhausting journey with a new born the welcome that awaited us at Porth Nanven was warm and homey. With a yummy hamper of scones and jam to make a Cornish cream tea, a much needed bottle of vino, some dog treats for the pup and a paper.
The house felt like a home from home. Clean as clean can be, a warm aga esq range in the kitchen. Seriously comfy beds, 2 comfy, plush sofas to sink into after a long days walking along the beautiful coastline and good old fashioned games such as scrabble to while away evenings.

Set at the end of a valley it was perfect with a new born (no one could hear his cries except for the odd passing seagull). The view is to die for and with the beautiful weather we had, we were able to fire up the Weber and enjoy bbq’d fresh fish picked up from Newlyn.
Phay and Jonathan had also thought of everything with regards to making the place baby friendly. Kindly providing a travel cot and all the bits and bobs that went with it, meaning we didn’t have to bring everything plus the kitchen sink with us.
A thoroughly enjoyable week was had by all at this beautiful house.
Thank you for such a lovely week!!!
