Your Perfect Barn Escape

Turn down the quiet rural lane and follow the glimpse of the sparkling sea ahead. Corner Barn sits at the top of a small rural hamlet, with expansive views over Mounts Bay. Located at the very end of the lane, so the only people passing are the odd dog walker heading for the coast path. Corner Barn is a single storey property, with an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, so it works just as well for a couple as it does for a small family. Like all our properties its very dog friendly; step out of the front door and you are on a footpath, with only a 15 minute walk to the beach – I promise your dogs will love this Praa Sands Holiday Cottage!

Accommodation

Step in from the lane to a neat, well-kept garden that wraps around two sides of the barn. The main entrance is through patio doors into the dining area and kitchen. The traditional-style kitchen is bright and airy with lovely views over the bay, and has everything you need: oven, induction hob, Belfast sink, dishwasher and plenty of crockery so you can enjoy cooking with the local Cornish produce. The dining table seats four with views out to the garden and sea beyond.

The living area is open plan but cosy, with a large, comfortable corner sofa, a wood burner and smart TV. After a blustery beach walk, kick off your boots, light the fire and settle in with a book or binge a box set. The barn is home to an artist, so beautiful paintings are displayed around the property.

There are two comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom at the back has double patio doors out to the private garden, a double bed with crisp linen and plenty of storage. The main bathroom has a bath, separate shower, basin and WC. The second bedroom is a bright twin with two single beds, and there is a second shower room with basin and WC. In the shower room there is a small utility area with washing machine. There is a handy space for coats, boots and dog leads in the porch by the front door.

The garden can be accessed from several places around the house. It is mostly lawned with pretty flower beds, plus a private decked area and extra lawn to the side, so you can always find a sunny spot for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.

Exploring from Corner Barn

From Corner Barn you are perfectly placed to explore this stretch of coast. Praa Sands is around a 10 minute walk from the door, ideal for a morning stroll, a lazy beach day or a surf session if the waves are rolling in. Within a short drive (or a beautiful two-hour walk along the coast path) is Porthleven, a harbour town that is a real foodie favourite, packed with great restaurants, cafes, pubs, independent shops and galleries, and a lovely harbour to wander around.

By car, about 15 minutes either way, you can reach Penzance or Helston. From here you can head onto the Lizard peninsula and Britain’s most southerly point, or out towards the rugged far west and Land’s End. Within 30 minutes is the iconic town of St Ives (recommend grabbing the train from St Erth rather than driving, its beautiful and much easier than trying to park), where you can visit one of the many beaches, or galleries such as Tate St Ives or the Barbara Hepworth museum. There are plenty of sandy beaches, dramatic coastlines, characterful towns and pretty seaside villages to discover. Or you can simply slow down and relax at this Praa Sands holiday cottage, knowing you can do as much or as little as you like!

Shops & pubs found in Porthleven, nearby you will find cafes & beach bars in Praa Sands. Pets are welcome by prior agreement, we charge a pet fee of £25 per pet. The garden has a low wall so is not dog proof for those that like to explore. Corner Barn is a non-smoking property. Arrival/Departure: Saturday, but off-season we can flexible, short breaks of 4 nights available. WIFI, Smart TV. Electric radiators and wood burner for cooler months. Parking space for 2 cars opposite. In the garden there is an outdoor 4-seater sofa and low table. Kitchen includes oven, hob, fridge / freezer, microwave, dishwasher. Washing machine. A high chair and travel cot can be provided but must be requested in advance.
